Zane Tetevano eyeing his third premiership ring with the high-flying Panthers

Premiership-winning Penrith prop Zane Tetevano is keen to secure another title with the Panthers for a variety of reasons.

Penrith prop Zane Tetevano can’t help but have visions of winning a third premiership ring this season after sitting out last year’s grand final with the Sydney Roosters.

Tetevano wasn’t selected in the Roosters’ top 17 team for the win over Canberra, but he was fortunate to receive coach Trent Robinson’s ring post-game.

The veteran prop also won a title at the Tricolours in 2018, but in a fitting tribute, he buried his ring with his late grandfather.

Now Tetevano is keen to secure another premiership ring, but one that he can secure on his own, and keep, after playing a key role in a title-winning victory.

“I’m not going to lie, I’ve kind of visualised that moment,” Tetevano said.

“But then I have to pull myself back.

“I gave my 2018 ring to my grandfather, who had passed away, which I’m proud of.

“Then last year Trent Robinson gave me his ring, so to win this year would be pretty special.

“I’m looking forward to it, and it is exciting, but I don’t want to look too far ahead.”

Tetevano has proved to be an astute buy for Penrith this season.

His experience following consecutive premierships at the Roosters has been invaluable for the mountain men.

Tetevano has played 17 games for the Panthers, predominantly off the bench as a key strike weapon.

He is yet to score a try, but he has provided Penrith with a reliable forward option that can defend strongly and make metres.

Tetevano had a feeling the Panthers could compete for the premiership when he joined the club last November.

“When I first arrived, I saw the way the boys trained with the enthusiasm, the training staff, and the coaches, so I knew that this was a great team,” he said.

“It was pretty easy to come here.

“It is still a work in progress, but I knew this team was great, so I’m glad to be here.”
