NORTH Queensland left it til the death to pip the Warriors 28-24 in Townsville, here are five lessons learnt out of the clash.
1. JAMES Tamou might actually be worth his $650,000 salary. If Trent Merrin is worth $700,000 plus then Tamou is surely worth the same. He was worth half that much last year but his past month has been exceptional.
2. Michael Morgan must be the fastest NRL player over 100 metres. He gave Konrad Hurrell, who is fast despite his bulk, a 40 metre head start and tracked him down with ten metres to spare.
3. Darren Lockyer said in the pre-season that Solomone Kata was his rookie of the year and while few wondered who the Warriors centre was following the champion’s endorsement we are fast learning that the Broncos legend is rarely wrong. Kata is like a more consistent version of Konrad Hurrell.
4.Will the Cowboys show up on time, ever? The Cowboys regularly work with a psychologist to help their mental approach to games but they need a special session on how start. They have conceded the first points in six of seven games this year.
5. Robert Lui will surely be departing he Cowboys at season’s end. He is no chance of reclaiming a place in the side unless there is a series of injuries.
