Cowboys enforcer Tariq Sims faces likely two week suspension for dangerous throw on Shaun Fensom

COWBOYS enforcer Tariq Sims has been charged for his dangerous throw on Canberra’s Shaun Fensom and is likely to be sidelined for two weeks.

COWBOYS enforcer Tariq Sims has been hit with a grade two dangerous throw charge for his ugly tackle on Shaun Fensom in Sunday’s loss to the Raiders and is likely to be sidelined for two weeks.

Sims faces a three week suspension if he chooses to fight the charge, but given the atmosphere around lifting tackles in the NRL at the moment, it seems unlikely he would choose to take it on.

An early guilty plea would ensure a two week ban, keeping Sims out for North Queensland’s next two clashes — a home match against the Storm this Saturday and a roadtrip to Parramatta the following Friday night.

Any suspension for the hard nut second rower will test the depth of the Cowboys, given the forward pack has already been hit by several injuries as well as the absence of the side’s Origin reps.

The only other incident to be cited by the match review committee out of an abbreviated round 11 so far was a high shot by Brisbane prop Todd Lowrie on the Tigers’ Bodene Thompson.

Lowrie was hit with a grade one careless high tackle charge and will not miss a game.
