GOLD Coast star Jarryd Hayne is in doubt for next week’s Indigenous All Stars clash after succumbing to a knee injury at the Auckland Nines.
Hayne played a pivotal role in the Titans’ two wins on day one at Eden Park but was pulled from their final pool match and their quarter-final defeat to Parramatta.
Gold Coast Neil Henry said the injury wasn’t serious, but at the same time wasn’t confident Hayne would appear for the World All Stars in Newcastle on Friday.
“I don’t know exactly what the injury is other than it is not serious. But with any knee injury it usually requires a week off so I’d say he’d be fairly doubtful,” Henry said.
Parramatta playmaker Corey Norman has joined Hayne on a growing list of NRL stars to withdraw on the second day of the NRL warm-up tournament.
Norman was ruled out of the Eels’ quarter-final loss to Penrith due to a hamstring injury, following Hayne and Brisbane’s Benji Marshall on the sidelines.
Marshall, who was also forced to get stitches to a badly cut lip on day one, was scratched after picking up a minor Achilles injury, missing the entire second day.
Broncos centre Jordan Kahu said it wasn’t worth risking Marshall at this point in the year.
“He’s a big risk to play in something like this and he’s pretty sore. No point chucking him out there and not being 100 per cent,” he said.
“He’s obviously been good for a lot of younger boys, just taking a few of the boys under his wing. He’s really taken on a leadership role pretty well. He’s good to have around.”
South Sydney centre Aaron Gray could miss up to eight weeks after tearing his medial ligament on day one, while Manly’s Pita Godinet came off with concussion.
BRISBANE BRONCOS
Benji Marshall picked up a minor Achilles injury on day one and didn’t feature for the Broncos on Sunday.

Kenny Edwards has suffered a calf injury and will miss the rest of the tournament.
