MAROONS prop Dylan Napa is free to play State of Origin after escaping suspension for the controversial head clash which overshadowed Brisbane’s thrilling win against the Roosters on Friday night.

But Suncorp Stadium officials have launched an investigation following reports a spectator hurled an object at Napa as he walked off the field after being sin-binned.

Napa was the centre of controversy following a sickening head clash which left Broncos prop Korbin Sims concussed.

Officials ruled Napa to have intentionally led with his head and sent the 113kg forward to the sin bin in the dying minutes of the contest.

The Broncos capitalised against the 12-men Roosters, with winger Jamayne Isaako scoring a scintillating try to give Brisbane a crucial 28-22 win.

WIN: Depleted Warriors down Eels

The sin-binning of Napa polarised fans and commentators and the NRL match review committee opted not to charge the Roosters forward.

That means Napa will be free to be selected by Queensland for Game One of the Origin series at the MCG on June 6.

While the NRL cleared Napa, the league is awaiting a report from Suncorp management following suggestions Napa had to avoid being hit with an object as he walked off the field.

The NRL had not received a complaint from the Roosters, however a stadium spokesman confirmed an investigation was underway.

“We are investigating and will review our CCTV footage,” he said.

“We will provide the footage to the NRL if they request it.

“Any action as a result has to come from the NRL. It is the NRL’s decision what happens beyond that.”
