Joe Ofahengaue and David Fifita join Suncorp Stadium’s Walk of Fame
Making their Queensland debuts this year was a dream come true for Joe Ofahengaue and David Fifita. Now the Brisbane teammates have joined Suncorp Stadium’s illustrious Walk of Fame.

Queensland enforcers Joe Ofahengaue and David Fifita are no walkovers when it comes to footy but they’ve now joined an illustrious group of Maroons legends along Suncorp Stadium’s Walk of Fame.
The six Maroons debutants from this year’s Origin series have had their names and plaques added to the iconic footpath this week, outside the northern entrance of the hallowed rugby league field.
Queensland’s 199th player Ofahengaue had his Broncos bash brother and Queenslander No.200 David Fifita with him to check out their incredible achievement.

On June 5, just metres from their newly laid plaques, both players achieved their childhood dreams of representing Queensland when they ran on for the opening Origin clash earlier this year.
Ofahengaue said to have his name forever ingrained in the footpath outside his home-ground was a special honour for his proud Tongan family heritage.
“I’d like to see how proud my family will be to see my name forever here at Suncorp,” Ofahengaue said. “It’s amazing.
“In life, as a kid, you obviously want to make your parents proud because they put so much work and time and effort into you.
“For everyone else here with their name, they’d have the same feeling.
“It’s going to be a good feeling if one day I have kids to come here to watch future Broncos games and for them to see my name there. Stuff like that makes you feel real good inside.”
The debutant class of 2019 included the two Broncos, Moses Mbye, Corey Norman and Christian Welch.
Ethan Lowe was also added to the list of legends and being the most recent Queensland representative became the 203rd bronze shield along the Walk of Fame.
The plaques include the player’s name, representative number and their first year of service.
Retired Queensland legends Darius Boyd, Jacob Lillyman, Sam Thaiday, Matt Scott, Greg Inglis, Billy Slater and Cameron Smith also had their plaques updated at the weekend to include the year of their Maroons retirement.

Fifita said it was an incredible feeling to know kids like himself would be walking past his name and remembering his Origin performance.
“Growing up as a young kid, you always walk over here to go into the stadium to watch footy,” Fifita said.
“It’s pretty hectic now to look down and see my name there among the players, the legends of our game.
“I’m really grateful for the opportunity and my name to be established on the ground of Suncorp Stadium.”
