He’s on 19, but after his performance against the Panthers there’s no doubt about it anymore – Payne Haas is the best prop in the NRL. Check out the other things we learned here.

1. PAYNE Haas is already the best prop in the code at age 19. His 43-metre match-winning solo try to sink Penrith was incredible. No other prop in the game could have scored it. Throw in 195 metres, nine tackle busts and 29 tackles and Haas should be picked for Australia at season’s end.

2. THE Broncos deserve to make the finals on last night’s performance. They leapfrogged Penrith into seventh and only need to win two of their last three games to clinch a top-eight berth. This Friday night’s grudge-match against Wayne Bennett’s Bunnies will be a beauty.

3. BRONCOS duo Jake Turpin and Anthony Milford could come under scrutiny from the NRL match-review committee. Milford is likely to face only a $1500 fine for a first-half trip on Nathan Cleary, but Turpin could be in more trouble for his swinging arm on Dylan Edwards.

4. THE Broncos’ tryline defence in recent weeks has been superb. Brisbane were under siege in the final quarter last night but they produced a series of desperate tackles to repel the Panthers. It’s the type of defence that wins finals games.

5. KOTONI Staggs and Jamayne Isaako are forming a lethal right-edge combination. Staggs scored a first-half try before releasing Isaako in the second with a nice final pass. After a slow start, Isaako has got his mojo back, scoring a double and running for 188 metres, showing sizzling pace.
