Ashton produced one of the biggest tackles of the season when he jolted the ball loose from Rabbitoh Bryson Goodwin while younger brother Tariq was strong in attack and defence throughout.

NRL fans who responded to The Courier-Mail’s Fan Favourite survey rewarded the Sims brothers with nine-out-of-10 rankings and it was hard to disagree with those assessments.

Star playmaker Johnathan Thurston was another Cowboys to score a nine from fans.

All three got their nines from 33 per cent of respondents although Thurston was rated a perfect 10 by a handful of fans.

Supporters will get another chance to rate the Cowboys players this week when North Queensland attempts to turn around a horrible record away from Townsville when they take on the Dragons at Jubilee Oval.

Thurston will be on State of Origin duties so the Sims brothers, who grew up in St George Illawarra nursery Gerringong, will need to step up again.

Broncos fans weren’t impressed by the second-half capitulation against the Sharks last Friday night but prop Josh McGuire and halfback Ben Hunt were spared most of the criticism.

McGuire scored a respectable eight from 37 per cent of respondents while 47 per cent of fans rated Hunt a seven or eight.

The Broncos have the week off but the Titans are back in action against the Rabbitohs on Monday night and fans can rate them then.
