Broncos rookie Herbie Farnworth has retained his spot in the starting side for Thursday night’s clash with the Bulldogs at Suncorp Stadium.
The 19-year-old Englishman has been named in the No.4 jersey following his standout performance against the Warriors where he ran for 129m and made three tackle busts.
The call came despite second-rower Alex Glenn was spotted training at centre, alongside winger Corey Oates.
Oates has been named to make his return to the Broncos after sitting out last week with niggling injuries caused during Origin III last week.
Fellow Queenslander Matt Gillett has also been left out of Thursday night’s side as he continues to recover from a groin injury he suffered in Camp Maroon more than a week ago.
Gillett trained with the squad but the club has decided to rest him “as a precaution”.
Glenn and rampaging forward Tevita Pangai Jr will partner in the second row in the absence of Gillett.
Pangai Jr said he expected the Bulldogs to come out firing following their upset wins over Newcastle and the Sharks.
“I haven’t watched too much footy but they obviously don’t beat themselves,” Pangai Jr said.
“They’re on a complete high and they’re always competing.
“I’ve competed under Dean Pay at Canberra so I know he’ll get them fired up for up here.”
Broncos coach Anthony Seibold has also persisted with his positional switch between Anthony Milford and Darius Boyd following their successful outing against the Warriors.
Milford ran for 188m at fullback while Boyd had one of his best games of the season, scoring a try and running for 110m at five-eighth.
Blockbusting rookie Xavier Coates has been given a rest this week to make way for Oates on the wing.
