Brisbane’s rough start to the year took another blow on Saturday as they lost controversial prop Matt Lodge to suspension following their round one defeat to Melbourne.
Lodge will miss their upcoming NRL clashes with North Queensland and St George Illawarra, after the enforcer copped a two-game ban for his ugly shot on Storm playmaker Cameron Munster.
Lodge laid out the young star with a late hit after the five-eighth put in a kick early in their Thursday night clash.
The Broncos and Lodge took the early plea on Saturday, meaning he will next be available for their round four clash with defending premiers the Sydney Roosters.
They are already sweating on the fitness of centre James Roberts, who lasted just five minutes in the opening round of the season before being forced off with a back injury.
