Brisbane Broncos preparing to face Sonny Bill Williams in their clash against Sydney Roosters

A horror fortnight awaits for a Broncos outfit struggling to stay clear of the bottom of the ladder, starting with the Roosters and Sonny Bill Williams’ possible return.

The Broncos season from hell shapes to get even worse this weekend with the imminent return of Roosters recruit Sonny Bill Williams.

Williams officially joined his new club over the weekend after finishing his two-week isolation period last Thursday and is free to be picked for the tricolours for Friday’s clash with the Broncos.

However, there is no guarantee he will play with the cross-code superstar to be monitored at training this week in his first NRL training week in six years.

It will be a tough ask for the struggling Broncos who slumped to their 12th loss of the season on the weekend.

There would have been a few nervous Broncos on Sunday with the last-placed Bulldogs coming close to defeating the Warriors, eventually going down 20-14.

The loss has kept the Broncos from the bottom of the ladder but a fortnight of horror awaits them with games against the Roosters and the leaders Penrith.

It comes as the Broncos are set to welcome back head coach Anthony Seibold this week.

Seibold won’t be allowed straight back on the training paddock though, with the coach to undergo a COVID test on Monday and allowed back at Broncos HQ on Tuesday, once the result comes back.

It’s a different story for his long-term future though, with his coaching career expected to be discussed with the club’s executive in the next day or two.

The fitness of Anthony Milford will be tested again this week after suffering a fresh setback in their 28-24 loss to the Dragons.
