INJURED Broncos utility Corey Oates accepts Anthony Seibold’s future is in the players hands, as the embattled Brisbane coach fights to save his job.
“I feel for Seibs,” Oates said.
“We have to lift for him. I don‘t think any coach would want to go through this.
“It’s tough. It hurts.”
It is understood Seibold has been told the Broncos must win five of their last 10 games if he is to stay at Red Hill, where he is contracted for the next three years. Yet that would still leave the club with just eight wins for the season and out of finals contention.
“I have no answers to explain why we are playing like this,” Oates said. “I can’t pinpoint one area.

“It‘s not like we don’t train or don’t prepare for games.’’
Veteran Darius Boyd admitted he was also searching for answers.
“It‘s disappointing because we have a lot of support at home and we have a lot of fans who love the Broncos,’’ Boyd said.
“It has a rich history. It‘s not an excuse, it’s hard being out there as a player and tossing up some of the performance we are. Myself included, sometimes we feel lost on where to go next. You can cop a loss, but when you lose by 30-plus points consistently, then you really need to look at some changes.”
Million-dollar man Anthony Milford will be one of a group of big-name players under the gun before the side is confirmed for Friday night’s game against the Melbourne Storm.
“It‘s an attitude thing, making sure we stay in the fight,’’ Milford said.
“It‘s back to the drawing board, work on things we can improve on and take a good look at ourselves.”
News Corp, which publishes couriermail.com.au and owns 69 per cent of the club, said it was watching proceedings closely but that it would trust the Broncos board to manage Siebold’s future.
