Sydney Roosters playmaker James Maloney verbals Warrior 'Princess' Shaun Johnson

JAMES Maloney has unveiled the secret weapon he believes can rattle boom Warrior Shaun Johnson: Hello Princess.

Rather than launch Sonny Bill Williams at his 91kg rival at Allianz Stadium tonight, Roosters playmaker Maloney will instead dip into that large bag of sledges he created during three seasons in Auckland.

"Shaun's a great mate of mine but he does tend to get a bit temperamental," Maloney told The Sunday Telegraph this week with a smile.

"So that's why I gave him the nickname 'Princess'. He's obviously a very gifted footballer, but the first time we met in Round 2, they played him on the opposite side of the field to me. I notice now that they've switched him across, so, yeah, there's no doubting I'll be reviving the 'Princess' tag at some stage."

Maloney was asked if he might also have something for Russell Packer, the Warriors prop fined $15,000 for urinating on the field.

"Well, I know it's never cost him more to go to the toilet," the Roosters No. 6 grinned.

"I remember watching that one on television and, knowing him well, I was laughing and cringing at the same time.

"I'm just glad I never had to tackle him that week."

Outstanding for NSW in his Origin debut last week, Maloney said there were no lingering thoughts of redemption against a Warriors side undefeated in their past three games.

The Roosters five-eighth also said he would have no problem focusing on the encounter despite knowing he will be called into NSW camp immediately afterwards.

"Having got my Origin debut out of the way definitely helps," Maloney, 26, explained. "But the more you play, the more people expect of you and I'll definitely have to step up again next game.

"I know I'll need to produce a better effort in game two. I'm not playing for NSW to fill a role. I want to have an impact on the result, have a say on how the game is played."

And as for which Warriors are most likely to have a say against him tonight?

"Ah, I dunno," he shrugged.

"Jacob Lillyman is fairly good when it comes to a verbal, so I'll have to be prepared for him. Of course, the real key is to get yourself ahead on the scoreboard. It's always hard to sledge when you're in the side that's losing."
