NRL teams round 27: Every team change and SuperCoach analysis

The SuperCoach Gods have saved the toughest week for last. Mass restings and suspensions have created havoc and if you get a starting 13 on the park you are doing well.

KFC SuperCoach NRL: Buy, Hold, Sell Round 27

Let’s face it, if you get a starting 13 on the park for SuperCoach this week you are doing well.

If you get a full 17 on the park you are a God.

Or you are just really lazy and haven’t been bothered using your trades.

SUPERCOACH WINNERS

* James Tedesco FLB $719,300 - Named for the Roosters and expected to return from concussion. Genuine captain option this week in a must-win game against foundation rivals the Rabbitohs.

* Nicho Hynes HFB $751,400 - Named to return from a quad injury after missing last week. The Sharks are “hopeful” he will play and it would be a huge boost for SuperCoaches given he remains the best player in SuperCoach this season by a massive seven points per game.

* Joey Manu 5/8-CTW $625,900 - In somewhat of a shock, Manu has been named for the Roosters despite failing to finish last week due to a hamstring injury. All eyes on Late Mail.

SUPERCOACH LOSERS

* Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad CTW/FLB $579,400, Dallin Watene-Zelezniak CTW/FLB $669,800, Shaun Johnson HFB $800,400 - If the wholesale resting elsewhere wasn’t enough, the Warriors have decided to join the carnage.

* Jacob Preston 2RF $575,900 – Was due back from suspension for the Bulldogs but has inexplicably missed the team list.

* Harry Grant HOK $765,900, Cameron Munster 5/8 $633,700, Nick Meaney CTW/FLB$667,700 - Carrying niggles and among a host of Storm players rested. Huge blows with Grant the best hooker in SuperCoach by a considerable distance and Munster actually the fifth most purchased this week with plenty clearly not up to date with the resting news. Reverse trades.

* Payne Haas FRF $668,600, Reece Walsh FLB $756,700 - Among eight stars rested by the Broncos and both are massive blows. Haas is the most popular FRF in SuperCoach while Walsh is the third most purchased player this week, so reverse that trade.

* Kalyn Ponga 5/8-FLB $973,000 - Confirmed out for the Knights with a shoulder injury. He’s back for week one of the finals but that’s no use for SuperCoach. Ponga is the most sold player this week and fair enough given he’s the most expensive player in the game, meaning you can get the most expensive replacement. Maths, baby.

* Reuben Garrick FLB/CTW $629,300 - Remains for the Sea Eagles due to a back injury. Those who sold last week are vindicated.

* Tohu Harris 2RF/FRF $679,000 - Will miss two weeks for the Warriors with a back injury.

* J’Maine Hopgood 2RF $642,900, Clint Gutherson FLB $701,000, Bryce Cartwright 2RF $668,900 and all Eels - The Eels are on the bye and therefore clogging the most-sold list with all three of these players in the top six most sold.

* Dane Gagai CTW $720,500 - In-form POD rested for the Knights, who are confirmed a top eight spot.

* Corey Horsburgh 2RF/FRF $579,300 - The popular Raider has been named ahead of his trip to the judiciary but there’s a huge chance he misses out.

* John Bateman 2RF $550,900 - Didn’t see this coming in Early Mail – the popular Englishman is out with a rib injury.

* Latrell Mitchell FLB $704,000 - Suspended.

BUY

* Ryan Papenhuyzen FLB $950,500 - With plenty looking to sell Ponga, Pap is back in first grade in what is essentially a reserve grade game against the Broncos. Even with the long injury lay-off, Papenhuyzen playing reserve graders is very enticing.

* Tino Fa’asuamaleaui FRF/2RF $785,600 - With SuperCoaches looking to replace J’Maine Hopgood, Tohu Harris and Payne Haas in the forwards, Tino is the obvious replacement. Only teammate David Fifita has averaged more in the pack this season (he’s also a great buy but already very popular, more below). The Titans have a “nothing-to-play-for” match-up against the Bulldogs so expect some serious attack.

* David Fifita 2RF $720,400 - Speak of the devil. Fifita hasn’t set the world on fire recently with a 3RA of 64.7. But the Bulldogs match-up, in a day game, late in the round, with nothing to play for, yells CAPTAINCY!

* Scott Drinkwater FLB $869,500 - Currently the most popular replacement for Ponga, which makes sense given Drinky is the only fullback who comes even close to Ponga this year for season average (he’s only a point per game behind which is quite impressive). The final round clash against the Panthers is not ideal on paper, but becomes very juicy if they rest players.

* Tolu Koula FLB/CTW $494,900, Daly Cherry-Evans HFB $743,600 - I’ve grouped these two Sea Eagles together because they have THE match-up of the week by a considerable distance. At home against the Tigers, both sides with nothing to play for, it screams attacking football. Koula starred at fullback last week in his season debut in the position, notching 125 points.

He also comes extremely cheap for those short on cash at just $494,900 after been somewhat hidden away this year in the centres. Meanwhile, DCE is on fire recently averaging 104.3 over the last three weeks – the most of any halfback.

PAPALII OUT FOR SEASON

The Raiders have suffered a major injury blow with inspirational leader Josh Papalii ruled out for the season.

Canberra’s most experienced front-rower will undergo surgery on a biceps tendon injury suffered against the Broncos last Saturday night.

The three-month recovery time will also rule him out of end-of-year representative honours for Samoa.

Meanwhile, in more promising news, halfback Jamal Fogarty (eye socket) trained with the Raiders on Tuesday and will be named to play in a huge clash with Cronulla on Sunday.
