NRL SuperCoach DPP updates: 11 position changes set to shake up 2026

Tom Trbojevic is in the running for a dual position addition in SuperCoach 2026, while the stocks of J’maine Hopgood have lifted considerably. FULL POSITION CHANGES

Grand final hangovers have barely subsided but it’s already time to start thinking about 2026.

We’ve analysed every player in the NRL to reveal their likely position/s for the upcoming SuperCoach season. Some decisions will have a huge impact on the make-up of squads including Tino Fa’asuamaleaui losing dual positioning and Tom Trbojevic potentially gaining centre.

But first some housekeeping on the rules and reasoning behind positional changes.

LOSERS FROM POSITION CHANGES

* Tino Fa’asuamaleaui 2RF only (loses (FRF) - Owned by almost 100,000 SuperCoaches at one stage, Big Tino was a staple for last season, with plenty of appeal coming from flexibility between front and back rows. However, the star Titan only started one of 19 games at prop and therefore loses the position (unless new coach Josh Hannay signals other intentions in the pre-season).

* Jayden Campbell HFB only (loses 5/8 and FLB) - Campbell finished last season with the top average of any five-eighth in SuperCoach, despite never actually playing five-eighth. He played all but one of his 20 games at halfback and is therefore only available in that position.

* Dylan Lucas 2RF only (loses CTW) - Lucas was a go-to guy at CTW for a large chunk of last season, averaging 76 and owned by over 65,000 coaches at one stage. Key to his popularity was the certainty of his back row work rate in a notoriously uncertain CTW slot. However, Lucas only started one game at centre last season and has therefore lost that position.

WINNERS FROM POSITION CHANGES

* J’maine Hopgood add FRF to 2RF - The Parramatta workhorse wins the FRF position after starting eight games there to end the season (he previously played 15 games at lock and one off the bench). As a sneaky aside, he finished the year with a five-game average of 70.6 at prop, compared to 53 for the rest of the year.

STAY TUNED

* Tom Trbojevic add CTW to FLB? - Turbo is on the radar for a position addition after starting five games at centre last season. He finished the year at fullback and the Sea Eagles went well, but can Turbo’s body hold up for a full season in the No. 1? At this stage, we’ll start with Turbo as fullback only and add CTW later if he plays there. We await pre-season updates on how Turbo will be used.

* Dylan Brown HFB only? - Brown played halfback, five-eighth and centre last year at the Eels, but is now at the Knights who have plenty of moving parts in the spine. At this stage we believe Brown is most likely to play halfback with Fletcher Sharpe at five-eighth. But plenty could change over the off-season so stay tuned.

* Latrell Mitchell - This remains wide open. He played seven games at fullback, two at centre and two at five-eighth. There is plenty of chat he’ll make a full-time switch to centre this season with Jye Gray at fullback.
