SuperCoach NRL: Nine things we learned from Sharks v Manly, Rabbitohs v Cowboys and Eels v Raiders

The Raiders ran riot over Parramatta, two SuperCoach guns went down hurt and a former cheapie may have entered keeper contention. Here are nine things we learned from Super Saturday.

Cronulla hold on for gripping win

Canberra produced a comprehensive victory over Parramatta at Darwin’s TIO Stadium, romping to a 50-12 victory in the Top End to finish off another Super Saturday

Find out what the key takeaways for SuperCoaches will be from another action-packed day of footy.

1. William Kennedy was enormous for the Sharks. A pillar in defence and a threat in attack, the Sharks fullback didn’t put a foot wrong and is as reliable as they come.

2. Both Manly and Cronulla may have injury issues to deal with in the wake of the clash in Perth. Manly’s Haumole Olakau’atu looks to have picked up a potential right shoulder injury while Cronulla’s Addin Fonua-Blake went to the sheds after clutching at his right leg.

3. Sam Stonestreet would be a smart recruit for any SuperCoach player. He is a regular go-to for Sharks halfback Braydon Trindall and the two are a perfect pair in attack.

4. Tom Dearden is just about a must for every SuperCoach user at this point. Not only is he lethal in attack but Dearden put two shots on that led to the ball being knocked loose and tries came on the back of both of them.

5. Jaxon Purdue will be an elite player in the coming years. Purdue scored a double and is exhilarating to watch every time he touches the ball with his turn of pace. While he started off as just a cheapie, he could soon entire keeper contention.

6. The decision to put Latrell into the halves didn’t pay off for Souths. Latrell hardly made an impact on the game despite his power and game awareness.

7. Canberra’s second rowers have feasted so far this season, and that trend certainly continued with another three tries added to the ledger between Hudson Young and Matty Nicholson.

8. Joe Tapine had an epic performance, passing triple digits in SuperCoach points and ensuring he remains a key option among the games front rowers.

9. Bailey Simmonsson was one of the day’s big underperformers, totalling just 33 points on the night after being projected for 86.
