Still struggling to pick the spine for your 2019 NRL SuperCoach team?

Ben Ikin may have the answer.

The host of Fox League’s NRL 360 has shared his five must-have players with The Courier-Mail and within his top picks could be the perfect fullback, five-eighth, halfback and hooker combination.

Here are Ben Ikin’s five must-have players:

MICHAEL MORGAN ($409,200)

HFB, 5/8

Now that Jonathan Thurston has retired the Cowboys will be relying on Morgan to guide the side around the park. We all saw what Morgan is capable of when he led the Cowboys to the grand final in 2017 and if he can recapture that form again this season, he’ll be a SuperCoach’s dream.

KALYN PONGA ($614,300)

FLB, 5/8

There’s very few players in the NRL that can do what Ponga is capable of doing on a football field. He can bust a game open from anywhere, always wants his hands on the ball and has that ability to score and set up plenty of tries.

JAKE TRBOJEVIC ($667,600)

2RF

There’s few players in the NRL who have a motor like Trbojevic. He gets through a mountain of work each and every week. He’s capable of getting away an offload and last year showed just how handy he is as a playmaking option as well.

CAMERON SMITH ($594,400)

HOK

Just like an NRL side, every Super Coach needs a strong spine and there’s no better No. 9 in the competition than Cam Smith. Smith is a tackling machine, guides his side around the park in attack and is one of the best goal kickers in the competition.

JAMES TEDESCO ($689,000)

FLB

He went within a whisker of claiming the Clive Churchill Medal in last year’s grand final and will again be out to impress in 2019. Tedesco chews through the metres and is a constant threat with the ball in his hands.
