WE may have seen the last of Daly Cherry-Evans’ in the State of Origin arena.
Following his snubbing from the Maroons team for the MCG opener, the polarising Manly halfback’s representative career appears to be hanging by a thread.
The 29-year-old was overlooked for in form Dragons playmaker Ben Hunt for game one in another sign he’s out of favour within Queensland ranks.
Speaking on Monday Bunker, Courier Mail reporter Travis Meyn said Cherry-Evans was desperately unlucky to miss selection, and that it’s now clear he has a rocky relationship with key figures involved in the Queensland camp.

“I think he’s on the radar but he’s definitely out of favour,” Meyn said.
“They can’t deny it anymore, he was playing the house down last year and didn’t get a look in with all the injuries in the halves.
“Now they’ve gone for Ben Hunt. To be honest he’s played well to start the season and probably deserves the spot.
“But DCE kicks goals as well and Queensland’s going in without anyone that’s really kicked any goals this year which is a serious concern considering how game two finished last year with JT kicking the goal from the sideline to win it.
“I think Cherry-Evans is terribly unlucky not to be there, but at the end of the day he’s missed out to Ben Hunt.”
