The Canberra Raiders could become the latest NRL team embroiled in controversy over their commemorative ANZAC jersey design amid accusations the soldier on the shirt is not Australian.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a number of eagle-eyed internet sleuths believe the soldier on the Raiders’ ANZAC jersey last year featured a stock photo of a United States soldier.

The outline allegedly closely mirrors that of the one on the Raiders’ jersey.

The Daily Telegraph claims the Raiders have made inquiries with their apparel sponsor ISC regarding the supposed error, but the company is closed over the Easter break.

The Raiders’ alleged misstep is the latest in a week where ANZAC jerseys dominated the rugby league headlines thanks to the Wests Tigers.

The joint venture was forced to redesign their ANZAC jersey for this season after it was found the club hadn’t used a picture of Australian soldiers on their shirt.

Instead, the jersey depicted a stock image of American soldiers and was also modelled by English star John Bateman.

The Tigers then issued a statement claiming they had collaborated with the Holsworthy Army Barracks for the design of the shirt.
