Racing NSW supremo Peter V’landys has been appointed chairman of the ARL independent commission.
He was elected unanimously to replace outgoing chairman, former Queensland state premier Peter Beattie, at a meeting this morning.
In a statement the NRL said: “Mr V’landys will take up the position effective 30 October 2019.
“It was also agreed that Peter Beattie will remain on the commission to assist with the transition and pending the appointment of other commissioners.
“Mr Beattie and fellow commissioners extended their congratulations to Peter V’landys on his appointment.
“Peter V’landys looks forward to taking on the role of chairman.”
V’landys said: “In the meantime, there is a lot of exciting football to take place as we head into the final series and we look forward to concentrating on that.”
V’landys will remain chief executive of Racing NSW and combine the roles.
