‘We have what it takes’: Isabelle Kelly commits to the Roosters with the club hopeful of locking in their other NRLW stars

Isabelle Kelly has capped an incredible week by inking a monster new deal with the Roosters just days after she was named in the Dally M Team of the Year.

Their season may have ended prematurely, but the Roosters have already started planning for the future with superstar centre Isabelle Kelly signing a new three-year deal with the NRLW heavyweights.

The representative captain had another huge season on the left edge and was named at centre in the Dally M Team of the Year on Wednesday night.

Kelly was off contract but is now locked in until the end of the 2026 season.

“I’m incredibly proud to know that I’ll continue to represent the Sydney Roosters for at least the next three years,” she said.

“This club means so much to me, and I believe we have what it takes to achieve even greater success in the coming years.

“I can’t wait to continue the journey with my amazing teammates and with ‘Strangey’ (coach John Strange) and the staff here at the Roosters.”

The World Cup winner has been a dominant force for her club, state and country over the years, and her decision to commit long term could encourage others to extend their stay at the Roosters.

The Tricolours are one of the few NRLW clubs who didn’t get their players to sign multi-year deals, with only four players locked in for 2024 before Friday’s announcement.

Attention will now turn to retaining Jillaroos stars Jess Sergis and Tarryn Aiken as the Roosters look to bounce back from another semi-final heartbreak after they were held scoreless by the Titans.

“Isabelle’s leadership and dedication to the team is second to none,” Strange said.

“She constantly strives to get the best out of not only herself but also those around her, so it’s really exciting to have her recommit to the Roosters.”
