WE’VE seen what round one will look like and now the NRL is almost ready to make public the rest of the 2018 draw.
Expected to be released Thursday at 10am, the NRL’s draw for next season will see the sport’s governing body take more control over scheduling rather than be dictated to by the television networks.
And if the round one clashes, released exclusively by the Sunday Telegraph this week, are anything to go by then fans can expect so blockbuster matches.
Highlights from round one include:
* Ben Hunt wearing the famous Red V of St George Illawarra in a first-up clash with former club Brisbane at Kogarah;
* New Rooster James Tedesco taking on old club the Tigers for the first time;
* The Knights debut of rising star fullback Kayln Ponga against Manly’s Tom Trbojevic at McDonald Jones Stadium in Newcastle;
* North Queensland hosting Cronulla, a first-up rematch after the Cowboys controversially eliminated the Sharks from this year’s finals series;
* A Perth Stadium double-header on Saturday to mark the coaching debut of South Sydney’s Anthony Seibold against the Warriors and Canterbury’s new coach Dean Pay against premiers Melbourne;
* A Western Sydney derby between the Panthers and Eels on a Sunday afternoon at Penrith;
