The Cowboys will today unleash a trio of GPS Rugby talent to add some firepower in their bid to end Penrith’s three game winning streak.
Former Brisbane Grammar School First XV teammates Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Tom Gilbert and Daejarn Asi will run out in Cowboys colours at Penrith later today — the first time the boys will reunite in the one team since their GPS Rugby days in 2017.
Injuries to star duo Valentine Holmes and Scott Drinkwater have opened the door for the three schoolmates to combine in a ploy by North Queensland to find some winning form.

Cowboys fullback Tabuai-Fidow has already lit the NRL alight, earning the nickname “The Hammer” after an electric display during the NRL Nines.
And now Gilbert and Asi will join their lightning quick mate in a three-pronged attack to take on the red-hot Penrith squad. Asi was promoted to the starting five-eighth spot on game day.
Their former BGS First XV coach Paul Warwick said if their schoolboy days are anything to go by, their combination today will be exciting to watch.
“All three were really good players,” Warwick said.
“I’m really proud to see them playing in the NRL together because it shows how beneficial our programs at our school are.”
Warwick backed young Asi to handle his NRL debut because of his “level head” and “smart ball playing moves”.
“Daejarn is a young guy but he’s showed plenty on the training paddock,” coach Paul Green said.
“He’s also played well in the Intrust Super Cup.
“He got picked to make his debut against the Sunshine Coast for the Blackhawks last year and was marking (current Storm centre) Curtis Scott and did a really good job.
“He got man of the match that day.”
Warwick admitted “The Hammer” had the potential to be a future star.
“He’s a coach’s dream,” Warwick said.
“He has speed and agility.
“My big question with Hamiso is that no one knows how fast he actually is. He only goes as fast as he needs to.
“It’ll be nice to have him in the clear and have someone quick chasing him.”

Panthers Late Mail: 1-17. Nathan Cleary (ankle), Liam Martin (shoulder), Tyrone May (elbow) and Dean Whare (toe) all cleared.
Cowboys Late Mail: 19-year-old debutante Daejarn Asi will start at five-eighth, with Mitch Dunn moving back to the bench.
Warriors Late Mail: Same 17 but a late switch in the pack. Eliesa Katoa moves to the bench after two weeks out with an ankle injury, with Karl Lawton switching to Katoa’s edge and Jack Hetherington coming into the starting side at lock. Kodi Nikorima (concussion) is cleared to return.
Sharks Late Mail: Bryson Goodwin has been ruled out, meaning Josh Dugan shifts from fullback to the centres while Will Kennedy comes in to play fullback.
