Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy has called on Broncos players to ‘choose a different destination’, as the NRL delivered its verdict on Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam’s dramatic Bali getaway.

Broncos players have been urged to avoid Bali as a holiday destination as the NRL delivered a verdict on Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam’s dramatic post-season getaway.

Amid the departure of coach Kevin Walters and appointment of Michael Maguire, Walsh and Mam have returned to Australia following an eventful trip to the popular Indonesian island.

The NRL opened an investigation into the Broncos duo after receiving a complaint from an Australian man following alleged damage to a mobile phone at a Bali nightclub.

Mam was accused of damaging the phone of a third party who was repeatedly attempting to film videos of Walsh at the nightspot.

After receiving the complaint, Mam reimbursed the man for the new phone, however the NRL vowed to look into the matter.

That has since occurred, with League Central opting not to take any further action.

But that wasn’t where the drama ended for Brisbane’s million-dollar star duo.

A photo circulating on social media over the weekend showed Walsh lying on a bed in an Indonesian medical facility and being tended to for a large graze on his back.

Mam was also in the photo holding two drinks.

Walsh ended up in the facility after being dragged over a shallow reef while surfing.

The players returned to Brisbane this week and Broncos CEO Dave Donaghy said he had spoken to them about the incidents.

“I’ve spoken to both,” he said.

“From what I understand, I don’t believe there’s a lot in any of it but I strongly encouraged them to perhaps next time they have a holiday that they choose a different destination and possibly turn their phones off.

“Those matters, from our perspective, are closed off. It’ll be a matter we readdress in the New Year when they’re back from their break.

“I believe the matter has been closed off (by the NRL).”

Bali hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Broncos players.

Former Brisbane star David Fifita was infamously locked up for three days in 2019 while on a post-season holiday.

Fifita was accused of assaulting an Indonesian man outside a nightclub and eventually had to pay $30,000 to secure his release after a Broncos official flew to the country to help get him out.
