NRL 2022 Trials teams Week 2, game times, locations for every club, Charity Shield

The Raiders’ will show off their new halves pairing for the first time against Manly, while the Storm have received a massive boost. See all the Week two trial teams.

The Raiders will unveil their new-look halves pairing with former Titans halfback Jamal Fogarty and Jack Wighton to combine for the first time.

Fogarty and Wighton will be named on Thursday as Canberra’s starting halves for their final pre-season trial match against Manly on the Central Coast on Friday night.

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart is poised to field his strongest possible line-up for the trial - a crucial hitout ahead of the club’s round one home game against Cronulla on March 11.

After five seasons on the Gold Coast, Fogarty has joined Canberra to take over the playmaking duties following the departure of George Williams.

Wighton is searching for an improved season after struggling to find his best form in 2021.

Test-enforcer Josh Papalii and Maori All Stars man of the match Joe Tapine will also both be named to start in the front-row.

Meanwhile, rising prospect Xavier Savage appears to have one hand on the round one fullback position, with the speedster set to be named at the back for a second successive trial.

STORM STAR’S SHOCK NRL RETURN CONFIRMED

Melbourne forward Nelson Asofa-Solomona is among a host of big names set to play in the Storm’s final trial against Newcaslte at Ballarat this weekend.

Asofa-Solomona made a late return to training with the Storm as he awaited a vaccination exemption but he will be named in the Storm squad to play the Knights.

Justin Olam, Reimis Smith, Jahrome Hughes, Christian Welch, Felise Kaufusi and the Bromwich brothers - Kenny and Jesse - are also expected to return as the Storm step up their preparations for their round one game against the Wests Tigers.

At one point during the pre-season, it looked like Asofa-Solomona had played his last game for the Storm as he and the club wrestled with the Covid vaccination issue.

There was speculation he would turn his back on the club and join a team in Japanese rugby union. However, the New Zealand international was able to secure an exemption and returned to training earlier this month, having convinced Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy and head of football Frank Ponissi that he was committed to the club.

Melbourne will be without a handful of their biggest names for the opening round - Cameron Munster, Brandon Smith and Harry Grant will all be sidelined through suspension.
