Broncos superstar in the making David Fifita is torn between the club he knows and loves and a monster Titans offer that can set his family up for life.

The Titans have reportedly offered Fifita an NRL record deal of $1.25 million a season after he earlier rejected their earlier offer of $1.1M.

The Courier Mail reports Titans’ head of football Mal Meninga upped the Titans offer in a late bid to entice the star forward away from Red Hill at the 11th hour.

It leaves the young forward’s contract situation in limbo while he decides between a $700k one-year-deal with the Broncos, before negotiating a new contract for 2022 and beyond or the Titans mega deal.

The late Titans play came after Fifita backflipped on a decision to join the Titans for $1.1 million on Tuesday night, before telling Broncos coach Anthony Seibold he was staying.

Fifita phoned the Titans to inform them of his decision to stay at the Broncos on Wednesday, before Meninga stepped up with a mind-boggling deal that matches Daly Cherry-Evans for the richest contract in the game.

The Titans have put forward a five-year deal but due to his management dispute with agent Steve Deacon, Fifita is looking at a 12 month contract before cutting ties with Deacon.

A key factor in the negotiations is Fifita’s desire to pay off a house for his mother Gwen, who is helping him with his contract discussions.

Brent Read told NRL 360 that Fifita is undecided due to the massive money on offer at the Titans.

“I spoke to his mum Gwen, who is so influential in his life,” Read said on NRL 360.

“Even she said one day it’s the Titans, the next day it’s the Broncos, she said tomorrow it could be the Titan’s again. She said he is that undecided about it all.

“He is that emotional about it all and he is struggling with it all. She did say he will make a decision before he comes back next week. I would imagine we will have a firm decision in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
