EELS legend Nathan Hindmarsh has been forced to apologise to Parramatta forward Danny Wicks over a remark after last night’s game in Newcastle referring to his time in jail for drug dealing.
As Wicks was being interviewed after the game, Hindmarsh said: “Bit of a game plan tonight about offloading the pill but you got caught a few times in possession.”
Wicks went along with it at the time but this morning his agent Steve Gillis lodged an official complaint with Fox Sports boss Steve Crawley.

“I just said to them I thought it was inappropriate,” Gillis said.
Hindmarsh then rang Wicks to personally apologise.
The network has also removed the remark from the Matty Johns show replay on their website.
Wicks re-emerged at the Eels last year after spending two years in jail for drug dealing in 2009 while at the Newcastle Knights.
Crawley said Hindmarsh apologised immediately.
“A show like this time sometimes crosses the boundaries and this time we f …. d it up,” Crawley said,
“It a great lesson and reminder for us.”
Hindmarsh told The Daily Telegraph he regretted what he said.
“I actually admire Danny Wicks for the way he has come back from difficult times,” he said.
“I crossed the line and that’s why I rang him straight away.”
The network’s boss of magazine shows, Gary Burns, said it was out of character for Hindmarsh.
“It was so un-hindy,” he said,” It’s not his go.
“I don’t want the show to alienate the players. I just don’t want them being mean-spirited.”
