Monday Bunker: Valentine Holmes returns but refuses to speak to the media

NRL premiership winner Valentine Holmes returned from his NFL trial on Monday morning but refused to talk to waiting media about his future.

Monday Bunker: "Valentine Holmes looked like a w*nker"

Valentine Holmes decided that silence was the best approach when he returned to Australia after completing his NFL trial, brushing the waiting media which had turned out in force.

Keen to hear what his future would hold, Holmes, refused to divulge any information regarding his experience in the United States.

The Daily Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield said he wanted to see Holmes succeed but added that he didn’t do himself any favours with his performance at Sydney Airport.

“He looks like a wanker with the hoodie and the cap and all that kind of stuff,” Rothfield said on this week’s episode of Monday Bunker.

“He could have stopped and said what a wonderful time he’s had.”

Rothfield said he blamed his managers, Chris and Gavin Orr, who should have advised him to say something for the fans waiting to hear what his future holds.

“These are the same agents that paraded Daly Cherry-Evans around the carpark at Cronulla, flew him up to the Gold Coast, reneged backflipped, whatever...To leave your client out there like that was poor,” Rothfield said.

“They should have tipped to him stop, give them 60, 90 seconds for the news tonight but don’t look like you’re bigger than an NRL player now.

“You’ve achieved nothing over there. Look I hope he does and I know he is a much better person than what he showed at the airport today.”
