Melbourne Storm five-eighth Cameron Munster has delivered a hilarious interview on Fox League ahead of his side’s clash with the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday night.

There was plenty of news out of the Storm camp through the week, including comments from coach Craig Bellamy that he had a few more weeks to decide on his future after revealing earlier in the year that it would likely be his last season.

But Munster is enjoying the speculation and questions, taking every opportunity to roast the coach he’s been under since he started in the NRL.

With a smile on his face, speaking ahead of the Roosters and Eels clash, Munster didn’t disappoint.

“He told me last year when I was going through my contract negotiations that he probably wasn’t going to go on,” Munster said.

“And they’ve got a guy named Doc who’s doing a documentary on him at the moment. When they’re doing a documentary on you, it's probably time to hang them up.

“We’re probably ready for him to hang them up. A lot of the boys have lost that hunger for him to be coach — I know I have …

“Nah, I respect and love Bellyache so much. If he decides to coach on, he’s still got the passion and still got the love for the game. I feel he can still do so much more for our team and our young boys coming through but it all comes down to him and his lifestyle.”

Bizarrely, a car alarm went off in the background with Munster joking: “Someone must be stealing a car over her. It must be Craig's Merc over here.”

It’s also not the first time Munster has taken a swipe.

After last week’s win over the Wests Tigers, Munster was asked about Bellamy and said: “On Bellyache, he’s never happy regardless of the scoreline. He’s always negative so I can’t wait for him to leave.”

The quip left sideline commentator Jake Duke in stitches.

But the interview turned to who would take over from Bellamy, with Melbourne legend and Maroons coach Billy Slater named as a possibility.

“I really think he can (coach the Storm),” Munster said. “I don't know if he really wants to take that job on. It's a big ask after Bellyache decides to hang them up. I know it’d be a scary job to take over after he’s had so much success with the Storm. But if there’s anyone who could do something similar to Bellyache it’s Billy.

“He’s so diligent in everything he does, he’s always watching video and I’ll come in on Monday or Tuesday and he’s already got four or five clips on other teams and what we should be doing and how we can pull teams apart. That should be my job doing that but he’s doing that out of his own time. He just loves rugby league and he obviously wants the club to be such a successful club going forward after Bellyache.

“He’d be a great coach but I’m not sure he’s too interested in doing it. He’s someone I’d love to have as a coach other than Origin but he’s got to make the decision and go from them. I’m really excited his name has been thrown up but at the end of the day, it’s got to be right for him and his family.”

NRL great Gorden Tallis said the cheeky quips at Bellamy’s expense shows the relationship the pair share.
