TITANS coach Neil Henry says he will not risk Jarryd Hayne in Saturday’s crucial clash against Penrith if the superstar recruit is not fit.
Hayne has been battling a corked calf and sore neck ahead of the Cbus Super Stadium showdown.
Hayne did not train with his teammates on Wednesday and will have a light session on Friday morning.
Henry has named Hayne to make his first appearance at fullback, however David Mead could retain the role if Hayne pulls up sore on Saturday morning.
“He got a corked calf and we thought we would rest him,” Henry said.
“If he’s not 100 per cent right to go Mead is 18th man and will come straight in.
“Tyrone Roberts has had the flu and been crook all week.
“I won’t hesitate if someone is not right to bring in Meady for this game.
“It was more a precautionary the other day (for Hayne to miss training).”
The Titans can sew up a finals berth by beating the in-form Panthers.
If they lose, they may have to beat the Cowboys in Townsville next weekend to qualify.
