Latrell Mitchell has done something only Latrell Mitchell could, by kicking a monster 49m field goal in the driving rain to complete an incredible Souths comeback victory.
On Friday night the Rabbitohs fullback led from the front as his side rallied from an early 14-0 deficit to secure a famous Souths win 22-14.

Returning from suspension with his State of Origin spot on the line, Mitchell was immense.
Even before his incredible field goal, he was arguably the player of the match as he proved a handful for defenders every time he touched the ball and also saved several tries with incredible last-ditch defence.
However, in a moment sure to be replayed for many years to come, it was his field goal that stole the show.
With three minutes to go and the game tied at 14-all, Mitchell slotted a field goal from almost the halfway line that never looked like missing.

After seeing the ball sail over the black dot, Mitchell expressionless turned away and walked back to the other end as his Rabbitohs teammates jumped all over him, almost saying with his body language ‘That’s just what I do’.
And if that moment wasn’t sweet enough, in the final play of the game the 27-yea-old dived over from marker to extend the margin of victory further as he seemingly locked down a spot in Laurie Daley’s NSW Blues side.
And fans were simply amazed at the incredible heroics of the Bunnies No.1.
“Seriously EVERY SINGLE TIME we forget about or underestimate Latrell Mitchell he pops his ridiculously talented little head up and says REMEMBER ME B**CH,” one fan wrote on X.
“Latrell Mitchell stops Payne Haas 1 on 1, puts Mariner into touch a metre out and kicks a 50m field goal in the wet to win the game – definition of a match winner,” another said.
“This was another level individual performance tonight from Mitchell,” a third added.
While others claimed he should be the “first name” on Daley’s team sheet for the NSW Blues.
