A former NRL star facing multiple aggravated assault allegations has fronted court for the first time nearly four months after he was first charged.
Brett John Seymour faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Friday charged with four counts of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence).
During the brief mention, the court was told police were amending the four charges against the 33-year-old to include “domestic violence circumstance of aggravation” to each charge.
The police allegations against the former Brisbane Bronco, Cronulla Sharks and New Zealand Warriors player are yet to be aired in court.
The amended charges come after Mr Seymour’s case was first mentioned in court nearly four months ago on July 25.
He was not required to appear before court until Friday.
The court was told the Queensland Police prosecutions office will now be electing to have all four charges indicted.
A full brief of evidence was ordered and the matter was adjourned to January 25 for committal mention.
Mr Seymour remains on bail and is yet to enter a formal plea.
