CRONULLA coach Shane Flanagan has already stated the honeymoon period for the NRL bunker is over, now he wants changes.

In the wake of another week of debatable decisions from the new central command centre, Flanagan questioned if those in the control room were the right choices for the job.

He said his frustration centred around a midair tackle on fullback Ben Barba by Gold Coast forward Greg Bird that was deemed fair play.

“We’ve got all this technology and 20,000 televisions or whatever they’ve got, yet I can freeze-frame in my coach’s box with one television and one video analyst bloke and see it,” Flanagan reasoned.

“I just think we need to look at who is making these decisions and maybe we haven’t got the right people in there.

“We are not getting them right from the bunker.

“We are getting some right, but we are not getting any more right.

“I think it has sped things up, but I don’t think it has improved the decision-making process and why is this happening?.”

Referees boss Tony Archer said: “The contact on Barba was reviewed by the bunker and it was determined that it was not a reportable incident. As a result the bunker correctly did not intervene in the original on field decision.”

Bird escaped suspension for his hit on Barba, but he faces one week on the sidelines if he takes the early plea following his controversial tackle on Sharks five-eighth James Maloney.

The hit in the 17th minute was so brutal it left Maloney heavily concussed, while he failed to return to the field.

Meanwhile, Sharks back-rower Luke Lewis faces a week on the sideline for a shoulder charge.
