NRL SuperCoach: Ten things we learned from round 10

HOW the Raiders can help you from slipping in the rankings come round 12 and which Dragons players should on your radar — Ten thing we learned from rd 10.

1/ The Canberra Raiders’ outside backs have continued their scintillating SuperCoach form and could save many from slipping down the overall leaderboard if they can reproduce this form during round twelve when team numbers will be low.

Jordan Rapana leads the pack after scoring eight tries in four games to sit with a price tag of over $525,000 next week. BJ Leilua’s combination with Rapana is a sight to behold for owners with the big unit expected to rise another $60,000 this week after scoring 98 to take his five game average to 89 while on the left side attack, Jarrod Croker is also returning to form with his price expected to soar by $50,000 after cracking the ton to sit with a three game average of 90.

2/ A host of St George players showed their potential as trade-in options to cover the first two big bye rounds of the Origin period with strong performances against the Raiders. Tyson Frizell crossed for a try with a line break to score 92, Euan Aitken (78) boosted his usual strong base stat output with a try in golden point, Mitch Rein threw out an impressive 69 and Will Matthews played the full 86 minutes for 64 points and could definitely pique the interest of potential owners if he continues these minutes in Jack De Belin’s absence.

3/ Semi Radradra has returned to his try-scoring best scoring six four-pointers in his past four games including a hat-trick against the Bunnies on Friday night. Semi will now have a four game average of 78 and his price will be around $400,000 if he holds on to his current score.

4/ Cheapies playing in the forwards who get the opportunity to make big cash are rare, but James Fisher-Harris’ 9,340 owners have found themselves a diamond in the rough who will almost certainly break through the $300,000 price barrier in the near future. JFH started the season slowly and looked as if he would sit as dead weight in teams before he could be moved on for only a small profit, however, he has averaged 73 in his last three games and this includes the injury affected 35 in round nine where he only played 47 minutes. At this rate he will find himself in the starting seventeen of the teams of those who own him.

5/ This year’s overall competition simply can’t be won without Cameron Smith. Smith’s price will be in excess of $520,000 prior to round eleven after setting up six tries in his last three games, not to mention the 55 tackles he made against the Cowboys to sit with a five game average of 95.

6/ Anthony Milford broke the hearts of potential owners for the second time this year after beating his triple-figured break-even of 138 by 16 points which will see him increase in value to over $530,000. Milford has averaged 105 points for the six games in which the Broncos have played at Suncorp Stadium as opposed to the 65 he has averaged during their four away games making him one of the most exciting and solid captain choices in the competition.

7/ In some very sad news for SuperCoach, the great silver fox Corey ‘God’ Parker is no longer a viable captain choice. Parker has relinquished the goal kicking duties to Jordan Kahu and this saw him score his lowest score of the year of 42 In 57 minutes.

8/ Ben Barba continues to give 35 per cent of SuperCoaches reason to keep him in their teams. Barba has scored six tries and set up four in his past seven games and he no doubt would have joined the other five Sharks to crack the ton yesterday had he not been given an early mark after 61 minutes.

9/ If Matt Moylan doesn’t force his way into a Blues jumper this year he could be a handy dual position option for those looking for a POD to bring them home strong. Moylan (FLB/5/8) showed what he is capable of setting up two tries with line break assists for Tyrone Peachey and the Panthers will become very SuperCoach relevant after round fifteen when they have completed their byes.

10/ Elijah Taylor strapped on the boots and found his way into the starting side of his new club Wests Tigers. Taylor scored with a PPM of 0.64 playing 70 minutes for 45 points in a game that saw very few attacking stats for Tigers’ players. One to keep an eye on.
