DANGEROUS DRAGONS

The Dragons have won 10 of their 17 matches as the home team against the Cowboys, however, recently North Queensland have won three of their past four away matches against the Dragons.

CLOSE CALL

The past four matches between these teams in NSW have been decided by 10 points or less, including the past three by six points or less.

The Dragons will aim to take advantage of the Origin-depleted Cowboys.

WINNING COWBOY

The last clash between these two teams at WIN Stadium came the week before Game Three of Origin, 2015 and despite missing Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott, Michael Morgan and James Tamou the Cowboys won the match 18-12.

TRY TIME

Kane Linnett has scored six tries in his past five matches against St George Illawarra — his equal best tally against any team along with the Eels. To Score a Try — $2.90; 1st Try Scorer — $15

Betting summary: The money would suggest the Cowboys missing five key players is enough to give the Dragons the win as St George Illawarra are seeing all the support in the Head To Head market.

Raiders v Bulldogs

HISTORY BOOKS

Canberra have not defeated the Bulldogs twice in the same season since 2008.

HALF/FULL DOUBLE

The team that has led going into halftime has gone on to win in six of the past seven matches.

Canterbury is a stronger first half team this season; they lead the competition in first-half points with 154. Bulldogs/Bulldogs – $3.40; Canberra/Canberra — $2.20.

A win for Canberra would be the first time in eight years they’ve beaten the Dogs twice in a season.

TWENTY-POINT TROUBLE

The Raiders are undefeated when scoring more than 20 points this season with five wins and a draw but have lost all five when scoring 20 points or less.

BATTLE OF THE COACHES

Des Hasler has won 13 of 16 matches, including nine of his past 10, against Ricky Stuart (81.2 per cent). It is his highest win-percentage against any current coach he has faced five or more times. Ricky’s 18.8 win percentage against Des is his worst against any current coach he has faced five or more times.

BLOW OUT

Two of the past three matches at Hunter Stadium between these two teams have been decided by 30 points or more, both in favour of Newcastle. The Knights have outscored the Eels 118-46 in these three meetings.

MONDAY NIGHT WOES

The Eels do not have a good Monday night record of late having won just seven of their past 21 matches in the time slot dating back to mid-2011. They have been held to eight points or less on three of their past four Monday night matchups.

Despite the drama, most of the money still sits with Parramatta.

SLOW STARTERS

The Eels have been slow starters in recent weeks conceding the first try in each of their past four matches. They have only scored six points in the first 20 minutes of these matches and only held the lead going into halftime once in those four matches.

DEFENSIVE STRUGGLES

Newcastle are conceding the most second-half points in the competition with 211 points — 29 more than the next worst team the Wests Tigers.

Betting summary: Parramatta is heavily supported at the Line at $1.85. Ninety per cent of the money invested in the market sits with the Eels.
