THE Daily Telegraph’s Paul Crawley held no punches in his brutal assessment of how the NRL is handling State of Origin scheduling.
Crawley’s views on one of the NRL’s marquee tournaments followed Bulldogs coach Des Hasler lashing out at the NSW Rugby League over its recalling of Canterbury centre Josh Morris to the Origin camp.
Morris was a late scratching from the Bulldogs trip to meet the Raiders yesterday after Josh Dugan was ruled out of Wednesday’s Origin opener with an elbow injury.
“It’s not the 1980s anymore. People have been calling for stand-alone State of Origin for years,” Crawley said on League Central TV.
“It’s about time they got off their butts and changed things. It’s a billion-dollar sport and they’re treating it like it’s amateurism.”
