Who will be the NRL's best hooker in 2020?

Cameron Smith is the game’s most decorated No.9 but there are plenty of contenders ready to take his title as the NRL’s best hooker.

While the Storm star will go down as arguably the game’s best in his position, he faces plenty of competition in season 2020.

Check out the top contenders to be named the NRL’s best hooker and vote in our poll.

Damien Cook

The NSW Blues incumbent suffered a form slump coming out of last year’s State of Origin series but rediscovered his touch going into the finals. Cook is poised for a big year trying to lead a Souths forward pack missing inspirational forward Sam Burgess and his younger brother George Burgess.

Cameron Smith

The Storm great has won the Dally M Hooker of the Year award seven times and is the reigning medallist. With his fingerprints over everything the Storm do, Smith will be at the centre of the point-scoring again.

Cameron McInnes

Cruelly, a medium-to-high-grade MCL injury suffered during the NRL Nines last month is likely to keep him out of the first two months of the Dragons’ season, with veteran Issac Luke poised to prove 2020’s shrewdest transfer.

Jake Friend

Before breaking down in 2019 with a bicep tear followed by a forearm fracture, he was one of the game’s most durable hookers, having played 20-plus matches in all eight of the previous seasons. With young gun Sam Verrills breathing down his back at the reigning premiers, Friend will need a return to full fitness and form if he is any chance of wearing this medal in 2020.

Josh Hodgson

One of the Raiders’ best in 2019 and was a crucial part of their title push. If the Green Machine are to atone for falling one short in last year’s grand final, Hodgson must be at his game-breaking best.
