SOON after Barry O’Farrell resigned as NSW premier on Wednesday morning he received a message of support from Robbie Farah, captain of his favourite team, the Tigers.

It’s popular knowledge O’Farrell is a passionate Tigers supporter and, as has been reported, is one of the ways he came into contact with Nick Di Girolamo, who gave him the bottle of Grange that led to his downfall.

Di Girolamo was until recently deputy chairman of Wests Tigers rugby league club.

Farah got behind the outgoing premier this morning when he tweeted his support to his more than 52,000 followers.

O’Farrell has previously fronted Tigers membership drives with Farah.

As a mad rugby league fan O’Farrell also interviewed NSW skipper Paul Gallen ahead of the State of Origin in 2012 for the telegraph.com.au

And when the then world’s best golfer Tiger Woods came to Sydney to play in the Australian Open in 2012 he was presented with a Wests Tigers jersey.

More recently as premier he played a role in bringing Major League Baseball to the SCG to open their 2014 season.
