HE proved to be Queensland’s lone metre monster against the Blues but Moeaki Fotuaika is happy to stay quiet achiever when it comes to the Titans.

The softly-spoken 21-year-old was one of the few Maroons to enhance his reputation amid the bloodbath of Origin I, coming off the bench to be his side’s only forward to clock 120 running metres.

Fotuaika missed Gold Coast’s heartbreaking 35-34 loss to the Roosters last weekend after copping a grade-one dangerous contact charge for a late hit on Blues centre Latrell Mitchell.

It’s likely to prove a mere speed bump for an improving forward averaging 54 minutes per game in 2021, a figure on par with his Origin display thanks to the early concussion of starting prop Christian Welch.

“It was good fun even though it wasn’t the result we needed,” the Keebra Park graduate said of his bigger minutes.

“I was proud of some stuff in my game but like all players there are parts of your game you can fix up.

“I’m looking to fix up parts of that this week.”

Modesty aside, Fotuaika is likely to come into discussions for a Maroons starting role should he again impress in Sunday’s 4.05pm home game against the Sea Eagles.

“It was pretty nerve-racking watching from the sidelines,” he said of his suspension.

“I feel really refreshed – although it was bad to miss the game it was good to freshen up.”
