Revealed: 10 up and coming drivers to watch at this year’s Adelaide 500

From championship title winners to pole position guns – there are some talented young drivers set to race at the Adelaide 500. See the full list of up and comers.

The Adelaide 500 is set to return next weekend with a talented line up of up and coming drivers to keep an eye out for.

The speeding bunch, who have grown-up across the country, have excelled in multiple race categories: gaining sponsorship, winning podiums, pole positions and championship titles.

Through sheer determination, blood, sweat and tears, these young drivers have proven they have what it takes to make it to the top in Supercars.

While in no particular order, here’s a list of 10 talented young gun drivers to watch speeding down the track at the Adelaide 500 weekend.

WILL BROWN

Queenslander Will Brown has performed strongly after turning his rookie Supercars season full-time in 2021.

During that season, the 24-year-old secured three podiums finishes and a win at Sydney Motorsport Park, finishing 8th in the drivers Championship.

A personal highlight for the up and coming driver, was scoring provisional pole at the 2021 Bathurst 1000.

BRYCE FULLWOOD

First appearing on the Super2 scene at only 16 years old, Bryce Fullwood won the Dunlop Super2 Series in 2019.

Born in Darwin, Fullwood was the first Northern Territory driver to race full-time in the Supercars Championship in 2020.

The talent has driven beyond Super2, racing in go karting which won Fullwood a Junior Light Australian Karting title and jet setting to Europe to represent Australia at the 2014 Rotax Worlds.

THOMAS RANDLE

26, VIC

Thomas Randle will compete in the Supercars championship as a wildcard entry at the OTR SuperSprint at The Bend in 2021.

While fighting testicular cancer, Thomas Randle won the 2020 Super2 title.

He was commended with the Mike Kable Young Gun award in 2018 for an outstanding rookie season and awarded The BRDC Innes Ireland Trophy in 2020.

Randle has had extensive experience in other racing categories, winning the 2017 Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, competing in British Formula 3, Formula Renault 2.0 and LMP3 sports car competition.

BROC FEENEY

Broc Feeney started karting in 2013 and raced his way into winning the Dunlop Super2 Series in 2021.

At only 20-years-old, the young driver became the youngest winner of the Super3 Series after taking pole position and race win in the opening round.

The talented Feeney began racing motorbikes at aged three, before moving to karts aged nine, winning the 2017 Australian Karting Championship in the KA2 class.

He also claimed podium results in SuperNational in Las Vegas and the ROK CUP in Italy.

Feeney moved into car racing in 2018, aged 15, and became the youngest race winner in the Toyota86 Racing Series history.

BRODIE KOSTECKI

25, WA

After winning two races in Adelaide, Brodie Kostecki has competitively raced across the world.

At aged 10, Kostecki won a state title and was ranked in the top 50 karters of Australia.

Shortly after moving to the United States to compete in the USAC Ford Focus Series, he won three national championships and earned 27 feature wins.

After debuting in car ranks, he finished in the top 10 in 2012.

A career highlight for Kostecki is winning at Rockingham Speedway in North Carolina against NASCAR stars Ty Dillion and Bubba Wallace.

After securing two poles and one track record in NASCAR, he returned home to join the Dunlop Super2 Series in 2017.

CASSANDRA HOARE

21, SA

After getting her first taste for rally car racing just before her brother passed away in 2019, Cassandra Hoare has been a competitive racer in Circuit Excel.

The rising driver races in honour of her brother Josh, who was a Rally sprint racer.

While Hoare won’t be officially racing at the Adelaide 500, she will be behind the scenes for the not-for-profit initiative, Girls on Track.

With a bit of luck and backing from sponsors, Hoare will race competitively in NASCAR driving in the United States.

JAYLYN ROBOTHAM

20, VIC

Making his debut at Bathurst this year, Jaylyn starting his love for racing in BMX.

When he was 10-years-old, he had won state and national titles.

In 2019 season, he placed second in his maiden Toyota 86 Racing Series and placed sixth overall.

During that year, Robotham won the Asian TA2 title on debut.

Making his Super3 debut in 2020, the 20-year-old is set to race in the Dunlop Super2 Series in Adelaide.

ELLY MORROW

23, VIC

Elly Morrow was the first female Dunlop Super2 driver to tackle Mount Panorama in six years.

She began karting at aged 13 at a local track, later training under a Junior Development Program which progressed her to Super3 in 2021.

While Morrow is still finding her feet, the young rising star made her debut at S5000 Series debut on the Gold Coast in October.

Unfortunately Morrow has stepped down from competing at the Adelaide 500, with teenager, Lachlan Dalton taking her place in the Dunlop Super2 Series.

DECLAN FRASER

Declan Fraser is set to be champion of this years Dunlop Super2 Series title.

The young gun started in karting in 2008 before taking seat in the Toyota 86 Series almost a decade later.

In 2021, Fraser stepped up into the Super2 Series, and was the only rookie to score an overall podium.

During the Dunlop Super2 2022 Series, Fraser achieved several podium finishes and taken pole

He made his debut at Repco Bathurst 1000, and finished eighth with Craig Lowndes.

ZAK BEST

Only 75 points behind Declan Fraser in the Dunlop Super2 Series 2022, Zak Best is one to keep an eye on.

Having his first taste for karting at four-years-old, Best became the youngest driver to win a race in Aussie Racing Car series, a decade later.

He competed in CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship in 2017, before making his Supercars debut in the V8 Touring Car Series the following year.

The young gun achieved a maiden race win and competed for a championship title, racing to the final at The Bend, but finished second in the standings.

Best won six races in the Super3 Series in 2019 and finished runner-up in 2021.
