Geelong’s Brodie Gawith to contest 2025 National Sportbike Championship in UK

Brodie Gawith’s decision to take his talents abroad is paying off, the Geelong racer hoping to replicate his first year in the British Superbike Championship paddock with a rise in class in 2025.

Geelong racer Brodie Gawith hopes to fight for early podiums in his second year in the British Superbike paddock, after the rising star secured a factory ride to compete in the National Sportbike Championship.

Runner-up in the inaugural British Superteen Championship in 2024, the 20-year-old Gawith is now preparing to step up to the sportbike support class in 2025, after joining Macadam Triumph Factory Racing.

Spending his off-season back in Geelong, Gawith will return to Europe in early March for testing in Spain before the new season kicks off at Oulton Park in Cheshire on May 3.

Gawith said he was excited to return to Britain, as he aims to adapt quickly to a new bike and class, with the team using the Triumph Daytona 660 – the same bike Richard Cooper won the inaugural sportbike title on last year.

“As I did in the superteens championship, (I hope to) fight for podiums early into the season and have a strong overall standing in my first year in the sportbike championship,” Gawith said.

With aspirations to ascend to the Superbike World Championship in the next few years, Gawith took his talents to the British Superbike Championship in 2024, regarded as the best domestic racing series in the world.

Joining the RoKit Rookies Superteen team alongside fellow Australian Henry Snell, the Christian College Geelong graduate’s immediate concern was adapting to the UK circuits and life as a full-time racer.

“Definitely different, definitely a lot colder,” Gawith said of spending eight months in England.
“But once I got used to it, made some friends, had a few people I knew and connected with, it was good.”

But early results surprised even Gawith himself, the Australian’s first international podium coming in round 3 at Donington Park circuit in May before breaking through for a maiden series win in July with a dramatic final lap win at Brands Hatch.

“I didn’t want to place an unrealistic expectation on myself in my first year,” Gawith said.

“My goal was first set on finishing on the podium and when we did that quite early on in the season, that goalpost changed to winning my first race, which again we achieved far earlier than we were expecting.”

It was after his first win Gawith said he realised he was in with a real chance of winning the championship in his first international season.

Securing his second series win in the final round, Gawith made a late charge at the title with podiums in all three races, though fell just short, nine points behind winner and teammate Kalvin Kelly.

After finishing the season with two wins, four seconds and two thirds across 16 races, Gawith’s form has been rewarded by Macadam Triumph.

Gawith is one of two new riders, alongside Englishman Lewis Smart who finished third in the superteen championships, as the team expands its sportbike line-up to four riders in 2025, with fellow Australian Jayden Martin, who finished 11th in the sportbike championship last year, returning.

Macadam Triumph Factory Racing team manager Mick Hand said bringing in two new riders to complement their returning riders gave the team “the perfect balance”.

“With what we learnt last season, hopefully we can hit the ground running this year,” Hand said.
