F1 has never looked so American as the United States firmly planted its mark on the category in comical post-race scenes.
Max Verstappen won the Miami Grand Prix on Monday morning (AEST) over Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc before things took an interesting turn.

Things immediately felt different when former American race car driver Willy T. Ribbs was handed the microphone to conduct the post-race top-three interviews.
Not everyone was a fan with the interviews widely labelled as “awkward”.
Well these interviews arenât at all awkward #MiamiGP

These post race interviews are so awkward.#MiamiGP

Could've probably gotten someone other than Ribbs to do the post-race interviews. Nothing against Willy, but just wish they'd have chosen someone else. #MiamiGP#F1

But things were only about to get weirder.
Next, personnel from Red Bull and Ferrari made a long journey under Hard Rock Stadium to the podium on the other side.
Christian Horner and his wife Geri broke out into a run as they were forced to make the long journey while escorted by police bikes.
They included a fake marina, a fake beach and now a police escort to get to podiums, I think I speak for us all when I say the less US tracks the better... #MiamiGP#MiamiGrandPrixpic.twitter.com/gSdEgtmJHo

Willy T. Ribbs, awkward t-shirt convo, football helmets, Marinoâs statue⦠this has been the most entertaining post race ceremony ever! #MiamiGP#F1

Once at the podium, Verstappen, Leclerc and Carlos Sainz were handed American football helmets which they were forced to wear.
Needless to say, the helmets didn’t stay on for long with all three whipping them off promptly.
I love football and thought the helmets were just a little over the top. #MiamiGPhttps://t.co/U4KbVzwDKT

Helmets. Police escorts.

Americans being America.
Next thing they will say that the win was stolen from Leclerc and Ferrari. #MiamiGP
