IN week six there was the season’s first tie between the Bengals and Panthers, the Seahawks were hushed at home, and Baltimore’s Joe Flacco got his arm firing in Tampa Bay. But check out what else you might’ve missed around the league.

GRONKOWSKI, THE ULTIMATE WINGMAN

The Patriots are pretty stoked about rediscovering their scoring potential on the field. Star tight end Rob Gronkowski believes this could well mean they score off the field too. In a post-game interview following New England’s dismantling of Buffalo, Gronkowski heaped praise on the efforts of the Patriots offensive line calling them “sexy”. But then he went one step further, proclaiming they deserved extra special treatment after the win. Talk about an O-line ... yeh, we went there.

WILSON COPS A SPRAY

It wasn’t the best of weeks for the Super Bowl champs, upset at home, by the resurgent Cowboys. Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson had an epic effort against Washington but couldn’t back it up against Dallas, managing just 126 yards in the game and didn’t throw a single touchdown pass. To make matters worse Wilson was on the end of a nasty spray from wide receiver Doug Baldwin, who was obviously frustrated by the surprise loss.

AUSSIES IN ACTION

Brad Wing is still the only Aussie getting NFL game time, but he’s hardly been convincing. Inconsistency continues to be his downfall, losing a game one week, punting like a veteran pro the next.

Against the Cleveland Browns, Wing muffed a snap, ruining a field-goal attempt for kicker Shaun Suisham. He then finished the game with a booming 70 yard punt. Inconsistency like that will make it hard for Steelers coach Mike Tomlin to keep relying on him.

THROWBACK TUESDAY

St Louis led San Francisco for some of the game on Tuesday, but eventually, as usual, they lost. But didn’t they look awesome in doing so! The Rams wore terrific throwback jerseys against the 49ers to signify the 15-year anniversary of St Louis’s once dynamite offence from the late 1990s and early 2000s. They were so lethal back in the day that the team was nicknamed the “Greatest Show on Turf”.

Those blue and gold jerseys got us reminiscing even further back though. Anyone remember the good ol’ LA Rams? We just really want an excuse to post their old team song, ‘Ram It’. Watch and you’ll understand why. HINT: It’s because the song is amazing.

TIGER LOVES OAKLAND

It’s hard being a Raiders fan. The team struggle to post one ‘W’, let alone string a few together. Not sure whether it’s a good or bad thing that Tiger Woods is a Raiders fan — depends how you took the whole cocktail waitress affair thing — but he is. Actually he sounds like a pretty big NFL enthusiast.

“I get juiced up for any Raiders game. And I do get juiced for the NFL season, especially now that I have a few friends who play in the league,” Woods said.

Get juiced, Oakland!

EVERYBODY IS A COWBOYS FAN NOW...

At the beginning of the season they’re the laughing stock of the league. Romo‘s a choker, the invisible defence, the gag list about Dallas goes on. They put together five wins and all of a sudden Cowboys fans are everywhere.

Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx was up for the Dallas lovefest, as was Cleveland Cavaliers NBA superstar LeBron James.

Talk about high-profile fans. Maybe they do still deserve the title of “America’s team”?

...EXCEPT FOR THE FRISCO COPS

Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle, whose NFL salary this year is about $500,000 has been arrested for shoplifting two items valued at a combined $125 from a suburban Dallas department store.

Police in Frisco said Randle was arrested Monday night and charged with misdemeanor theft from a Dillard’s store following a shoplifting allegation after Randle had been detained by store security.

Police found Randle had removed a tester bottle of cologne and a package of men’s underwear without buying them and booked him into jail. Randle was later released on bond.

FANTASY WATCH

T.Y Hilton -Despite what looks like a crowded receiving corps in Indianapolis, the T.Y. clearly stands for ‘THANK YOU’ as Hilton emerges as quarterback Andrew Luck’s preferred downfield option in a potent Colts offence.

Jordan Reed — If he’s still floating about in your league, the returning Washington tight end could make a valuable pick-up having developed chemistry with both current starter Kirk Cousins and injured QB1 RGIII.

Ben Tate — Two weeks back from an early season knee injury and the Browns running back has produced the goods on both occasions, in an offence that is committed to the run.

Cam Newton — The off-season ankle injury has been all but forgot as the Panthers quarterback showed off his arm and his damaging running game against the Bengals.

Tre Mason — Anyone who watched the Rams’ clash with the 49ers could see the rookie was clearly the most explosive and effective member of the Rams backfield and should see increased touches going forward.

VINCE LOMBARDI QUOTE OF THE WEEK

This gem of Lombardi wisdom goes out to Victor Cruz, the New York Giants wide receiver who suffered a shocking injury in his team’s loss to Philadelphia. A torn patella will most likely see him spend the rest of the season sidelined to undergo intensive rehabilitation. Though there is still a glimmer of hope for the 27-year-old to make a return next year. Hopefully we haven’t seen the last of his infamous salsa touchdown celebration!
