Fight breaks out at Broncos game

The Broncos supporter who was last night repeatedly punched for allegedly disrespecting the ANZAC minute of silence at Suncorp Stadium will be forced to pay over $1650 in fines.

The man, 45, was served with two infringement notices totalling over $1650 following the incident, which was sparked when he made disrespectful remarks during a minute’s silence honouring the ANZACs.

The ugly incident was captured on camera.

Police have served the man one $827 fine for obstructing police, and a separate fine, also for $827, for disorderly behaviour.

The Brisbane Broncos have warned that those involved in the fight, which started when a man yelled out during the minute of silence to commemorate Anzac Day at the clash with the Bulldogs, could still face a Suncorp Stadium ban.

Footy fans took matters into their own hands at the game after a man reportedly yelled out during the ANZAC minute of silence just before kick-off.

Footage of the man being punched and yelled at by crowd members quickly circulated on social media, while onlookers clapped and cheered.

The man is repeatedly punched by another man until he falls backwards into the row of chairs behind him.

At this point, the footage shows other attendees screaming at the man to leave.

“P*** off, p*** off,” he said.

Others can be heard yelling “get out!”

One spectator said the man who yelled during the minute of silence, was extremely disrespectful.

“He deserved everything he got,” the spectator said.

Witnesses reported the man was directed to leave but it is unknown if he was kicked out of the stadium.

Queensland Police have confirmed neither party involved in last night’s footy spectator biff have come forward.

The Courier-Mail has been told both men were escorted out of Suncorp Stadium following the altercation.

It’s understood both stadium security and police removed the men from the Broncos v Bulldogs game.

In a statement the Brisbane Broncos said they support “any inquiry conducted by stadium management and Queensland Police to ensure our members and fans’ experience at a game day is safe and protected.”

“As part of that process, consideration will be given to banning patrons that breach the stadium’s conditions of entry.”
