Will Brown sets sights on Bathurst and V8 Supercars title double

V8 Supercars ace Will Brown is not satisfied with a ‘near perfect’ championship win. Less than a month out from the start of his title defence he has revealed how he will improve on 2024 victory.

Supercars champ gets Key to City

Where does Will Brown go after what ranks among the best V8 Supercars Championship wins of all time?

The 26-year-old wrote his name into the history books last year – wining the championship and becoming the first driver since Dick Johnson in 1984 to finish on the podium in every round.

Brown joined another rare group of ‘history makers’ on Thursday when he was presented with an honorary key to the city of Toowoomba.

Speaking at a special ceremony Brown said it will be tough but he knows how he wants to improve on his near perfect 2024 season.

“Myself and my engineer were talking around round five of the championship,” Brown said.

“We said ‘generally it doesn’t go like this, usually you’re not on the podium every round it’s going to get tougher throughout the season’.

“Somehow we managed to get on the podium every round of the season which hasn’t been done in 30 or 40 years which is amazing.

“We (Brown and his engineer) caught up for a debrief at the end of the year and said how do we better this year.

“For us it’s race wins, we want to get more of them. We only got five last year and I think we can do a better job of that.

“It’s going to be tough to put a better season together than last year.”

Outside of the championship the biggest win Brown wants is the Bathurst 1000.

Victory at Mt Panorama and another championship would easily top 2024.

“If you can do the double in a year, Bathurst and the championship, that is pretty cool,” Brown said.

“For me it’s massive from the Supercars side. It’s not only that though I’m doing the Bathurst 12-hour next week which is something everyone wants to win.

“That’s something I am focusing toward and obviously a NASCAR race hopefully we can do well in that.

“I want to do a lot more in Supercars but I want to do a lot more outside as well.”
