We name the top performers from the QAFL’s round 19 action

With the final 2024 regular season round in the books, discover which QAFL players that stood tall in round 19 and who is primed for a breakout finals campaign.

The QAFL home and away season is all wrapped up with the top six locked and loaded for a cracking finals campaign.

Discover the players that starred across round 19 below.

Surfers Paradise claimed a comprehensive win to secure their place in the top six against in-form Sherwood, while Aspley dominated fellow finalists Palm Beach-Currumbin to rubber stamp its premiership credentials.

Ty Gallop (Maroochydore)

Despite winning seven or their last nine matches, a late season surge wasn’t enough for the Roos to gain a spot in the top six in 2024. Gallop was the Roos standout performer, booting eight goals to go with his 20 disposals, nine contested possessions, six contested marks and five tackles.

Brad Hodge (Morningside)

The Panthers suffered a 24 point loss to Maroochydore on Saturday but Hodge was a shining light in the ruck, finishing with 53 hit outs. He also had 15 disposals, eight clearances and three tackles.

Rhys Nicholls and Jay Foon (Labrador)

The Tigers midfield put up a fight against the Sharks on Saturday as Nicholls and Foon led the way in the middle. The pair combined for 65 disposals, five clearances and three tackles.

Harry Hunkin, Luke O’Sullivan, Daniel Annable and Craig Malone (Redland-Victoria Point Sharks)

The Sharks were too strong for Labrador on Saturday as they had a number of players that had solid outings. The disposal count was led by Hunkin (32), O’Sullivan (32) and Annable (28) while Malone was a menace in the ruck with 45 hit outs. Up forward, Josh Brown, Clay Cameron, Will Johnson and Jarrod Huddy all snagged two majors each.

Harrison Fraser, Ben Woodburn and Zac Smith (Surfers Paradise)

The Demons may have finished sixth, but they sent a serious warning shot to the rest of the QAFL on the eve of finals as they downed Sherwood by 69 points in a very solid win. Harrison Fraser had 17 disposals, two goals, and seven contested possessions. There were plenty of other contributors on the scoreboard with Fraser one of five different players total snagging two majors, which is no doubt a good sign. Ben Woodburn was also strong with 24 disposals, five clearances and five tackles while Zac Smith performed well in the ruck yet again for 17 disposals, 23 hit outs, 11 contested possessions and six clearances.

Luke Mitchell (Sherwood)

Luke Mitchell was among Sherwood’s best on a tough day 25 disposals and seven contested possessions.

Ryan Banks-Smith, Tom Templeton and Connor Stackelberg (Aspley)

Aspley rubber stamped its premiership credentials with a convincing 66-point win over fellow finalists Palm Beach-Currumbin. Banks-Smith and Templeton spearheaded the win as they combined for 59 disposals. Banks-Smith also had seven inside 50s and a goal and Templeton 11 contested possessions and seven clearances.

Kaedan Corboy and Fletcher Clare (Mt Gravatt)

Despite the trials and tribulations Mt Gravatt have faced this year, Corboy has been a shining light and this weekend was no different as he amassed 28 disposals and nine contested possessions. Clare played a great contested game and had 23 disposals, 16 contested possessions, eight clearances and eight inside 50s.

Kasey Nicholas, Blake Erickson and Riley Bowman (Broadbeach Cats)

Nicholas and Erickson led the Cats well under trying same circumstances and stood up when they needed to. The pair combined for 54 disposals. Cats ruckman dominated in the ruck all day but also won plenty of the footy himself. He had a field day with 29 disposals, 20 contested possessions, 12 clearances and a whopping 57 hit outs.

Mitchell Conn (Noosa Tigers) 

Conn was the standout for Noosa on a tough day out as the Gorillas handed them a 140-point defeat. He was rewarded for his efforts with 27 disposals, 15 contested possessions and 10 clearances, and also snagged a goal.

Daniel Bowles and Tex Korewha (Wilston Grange Gorillas)

Tex Korewha had a day out with a brilliant six goals and 20 touches to match along with 10 contested possessions, while Daniel Bowles was the major ball winner with 36 disposals for Grange in a comprehensive win which will send them into finals sky high on confidence.
