Mabel Park SHS’s girls scored a 38-12 win over a gallant Beenleigh SHS in round 1 of the Titans Cup.
Mabel Park coach Tamati Elers heaped praise on his girls’ ball control, while also praising the never-say-die attitude of the Beenleigh girls.
“At one stage they scored back to back tries and never gave up,’’ Elers praised.

He said aside from the delight of simply playing rugby league again after concerns around COVID-19, Elers said the girls ball control was so good, the side made just three handling errors.
Mabel Park SHS high performance sports co-ordinator Ashley Adams said his team’s experience also played a role in the win.
Keebra Park SHS girls’ coach Nathan Small had a tough 16-8 win over a physical Marsden SHS.
“We took our chances on the edges and got across the line a couple of times,’’ Small said.
He praised Marsden for the pressure they put his side under, but said Mabel Park SHS “defended really well’’.
“It was a good start to the comp, overall a great team effort,’’ Small said.
