The future of rugby league on the Darling Downs is bright with a new crop of young stars already making their mark.

As part of The Chronicle’s Toowoomba Junior Rugby League Spotlight Series we’re running the rule over the under-15 division - looking at young players with bright futures.

Noah Frith

Newtown Lions

Wears his heart on his sleeve and plays with raw emotion and toughness. Always involved through his relentless carries and persistent defence. Has stepped up into a playmaking role this year and like everything else is giving it a red hot crack.

Nate Wilson

Newtown Lions

As tough as they come, he has had to step up into the front row and has relished the opportunity. He is topping the hit up count every week and charges into the line repeatedly without any complaints. His ball handling has seen a big improvement and he is a leader in the pack putting his body on the line every game.

Jedd Sharpley

Newtown Lions

The team’s Mr Fix It putting his versatility to use across a number of positions. If there is a job to do he will do it having played prop, lock, centre and five-eighth but he has found a home at hooker. Along with being a solid defender and a strong runner with a good passing game on both sides he is a good team man.

Lincoln Karaka

A natural leader who inspires through his actions. His organisation skills are excellent and he is always busy both on and off the ball. Has the ability to create time and space for those around him and works extremely hard for his team. Is a great club man.

Tyler Grosser

New to the game, Tyler is quickly becoming a key player with strong tackling and hit-ups, consistently improving each week and gaining metres for his team.

Lincoln Perry

A consistent player recognised for his reliable tackling and strong support on the field. His defensive skills and commitment to assisting teammates make him an invaluable asset in every match.

Tyran Smith

A fast and skilled runner known for his solid tackling ability. His speed and agility make him a formidable presence on the field, allowing him to evade defenders and contribute defensively as well.

Hunter Tate-Roche

Southern Suburbs Tigers

The co-captain and five-eighth has been given Broncos contract which is well deserved after his last few seasons standing head and shoulders above the comp. Hunter’s best

asset is his raw strength and speed as well as great footy brain. His season has been hampered by a few small injuries but he’s due back on the field soon.

The hard running front rower is the ultimate competitor and a great co-captain. Has begun to hit some form on the back of simplifying his game. At his best when he focuses on bending the line and dominating defensively. A great club man who loves giving back to younger players he also received a Broncos contract recently.

Lawson Morris

Southern Suburbs Tigers

Back for another season Morris has used the disappointment of missing last year’s grand final to fuel a great start to the year. A Goondiwindi kid that boards at Toowoomba Grammar School he is a great asset to the team and is part of formidable partnership in the front

row with Nate Goulding. Can split teams apart with his footwork and leg speed and

can hit like no other in the comp.

Toby Rolph

Southern Suburbs

New to club and quickly established himself as a key player. Making the trip from Tenterfield every week to train and play he has a great attitude and work ethic. A strike centre with great footwork, agility and speed. A try-scoring threat from anywhere on the field.

Has quickly made his presence felt in the team as a strong-running halfback with solid defence. New to the side, he leads by example showing impressive leadership and competitiveness in every game.

A line-breaking, powerful centre who has become a try-scoring machine this season. With a sharp kicking game to match his attacking strength, he is a constant threat and a key weapon in the line-up.

Has returned this season with greatly improved fitness and strength, making a big impact in the forward pack. He delivers powerful front rower hit-ups and crunching defence, becoming a force to be reckoned with in the middle.

The ultimate workhorse second rower racking up high tackle counts and huge running metres every game. A reliable performer week in and week out, his consistency and effort make him an asset to the team.

Addy Reiser

Only new to the game, Addy has taken to footy like a duck to water. Addy is quick on her feet, reads the play well and shows great strength in defence and running the ball.

Jess Wright

Chinchilla Bulldogs

Jess is new to the game but hasn’t shied away since the first training session. She has great footwork, is quick on her feet and provides good ball service from dummy half. She will be a force to be reckoned with this season.

Charlie Holloway

Chinchilla Bulldogs

Charlie is an exciting player to watch with lightning speed. She returns the ball well from the kick and is a strong, tough defender.

Paige Miles

Chinchilla Bulldogs

Paige is an experienced player who directs and leads the team. She is an exceptional ballplayer and has a fantastic kicking game.

Keira Ryan

Dalby Devils

A fierce up and coming forward. Keira is quick on her feet and a great rugby league talent. She runs hard and is a dominant player on the field. Keira will bring a lot to the team this year.

Piper Calvert

Dalby Devils

Talent, speed and stamina. Piper is handy in the forward pack, a hard ball carrier and has great defensive skills.

Millie Dun

Dalby Devils

New to the halves in the Devils U15 side and has really started to find her feet. Coming in from fullback, Millie is agile and quick on her feet. She has shown promise in reading the play in both attack and defence.

Rhianna Argus

Dalby Devils

New to the team and has proved to be a strong utility player with great footwork and speed to burn. There is definitely no shortage of natural talent here.

Destiny Fooks

South Burnett Eagles

Destiny never backs down from a challenge. She makes the big tackles when it matters most and is a key part of the Eagles defence. Playing on the wing, she’s dangerous in open space — if you give her an inch, she’ll find the try line.

Chloe plays a smart, strategic game at hooker and reads the play exceptionally well. She’s always looking for gaps in the opposition’s defence and takes advantage when it counts. In defence, she’s rock solid — rarely letting anyone break through.

Taylor brings experience from playing in junior mixed teams, She’s a rock in the front row forwards — a tough defender known for making back-to-back tackles. Taylor is just as effective using her strength to break through the line.

Jorga may be new to the game, but she’s already making a big impact in the front row. She packs a punch in defence, is a strong runner, and never hesitates to step in wherever she’s needed. Her determination makes her a real asset to the team.

Emaleigh Huth

Emaleigh plays in the centres and brings a strong mix of speed and game awareness to every match. She’s a reliable and confident defender, also a strong communicator on the field, constantly talking to her teammates and helping to organise the defensive line.

A strong runner with the ball and will be a force in the middle making bug runs.
