On one side, a chance at redemption, on the other, a chance at vindication.

That’s the calculus that fans will be confronted with when Cairns Muay Thai fighters Quinton Smith and Oliver Hanson duke it out at Fred Moule Exhibition Centre this Saturday, with every bout set to be livestreamed by KommunityTV from 7pm.

It will be almost two years to the day since the pair were last in the ring together back in March 2023, a battle which Smith won via unanimous decision.

Since then, Hanson has gone away and worked at his craft, declaring in February he was capable of flipping the script this time.

“He (Smith) busted me up when we last fought so I’m pretty keen to get some redemption back this time,” Hanson told this masthead.

“I changed gyms from where I was two years ago, gotten stronger, hungrier.

“But I want to be walking out of there a winner and making sure he knows it as well.”

Smith wasn’t holding back either when he was asked his thoughts on his opponent.

“I’m a smart fighter, he’s a dumb fighter,” Smith said earlier this month.

“There’s levels to it. I’ve probably been doing it for a lot longer as well.”

This fight will be the main event of what’s set to be a massive day of Muay Thai action, with 12 undercard bouts set to precede Smith vs Hanson part 2.
