Cairns Tennis: Tennis Queensland recognises Tracey Horn’s remarkable community contribution with lifetime award
Tennis Queensland has recognised Tracey Horn as the recipient of the Geoffrey E Griffith Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award at the 2023 Queensland Tennis Awards.

Tennis Queensland has recognised Tracey Horn as the recipient of The Geoffrey E Griffith Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award at the 2023 Queensland Tennis Awards.
Hailing from Far North Queensland, Horn’s unwavering dedication to her volunteering and growth of tennis in the community at the Cairns International Tennis Centre and Edge Hill Tennis Club for over a decade has made a significant impact.
Behind the scenes, her work with planning, administration, grant writing and event preparation, including her recent involvement with the Cairns International tournaments held in October.
In particular, Horn’s role in managing grant applications has been instrumental.
Securing over $170,000 in funding for both tennis clubs.
Husband Paul Horn said she was shocked to receive the award but thoroughly deserving of the achievement.
“She was in no way expecting she was going to win,” Horn said.
“Tracey didn’t come from a tennis background, she was a state-level swimmer growing up and played hockey her whole life.
“She’s grown up with sports and understands the importance of sport within communities.
“She knows local sport doesn’t survive without the help of volunteers.
“She is a very hard worker and is always a friendly face to parents and kids at both Cairns International Tennis Centre and Edge Hill Tennis Club.”
